When you think about cleaning exterior surfaces around your home, like your roof, siding, gutters, etc., you might think of pressure washing and blasting away all the filth as quickly as possible. Here at Buckeye Softwash, we choose to avoid that cleaning method and use a method known as softwashing instead. Here are three common misconceptions about pressure washing explained to help you understand why softwashing is superior.

3 Common Misconceptions about Pressure Washing

  1. It is the only choice for washing exterior surfaces. For the longest time, it was believed that pressure washing was the only way to clean your exterior surfaces, but this isn’t true; you can use softwashing instead. This alternative method uses an effective cleaning solution paired with a gentler water pressure to carefully and effectively clear away any contaminants from any of your exterior surfaces.
  1. It does not always damage the surface when done correctly. It is also commonly assumed that pressure washing can be done very carefully to avoid any damage to your exterior surfaces. This is a risky assumption because delicate surface materials like siding and roofing materials can be damaged easily with any amount of high water pressure. It is much easier and never a risk to your surfaces to choose softwashing instead.
  1. It is okay to use it on more durable surfaces. Another common misconception is that pressure washing is a viable option for cleaning more durable surfaces, like concrete. This is only true if the surfaces are in perfect condition without any cracks, scratches, or other surface blemishes. Otherwise, you risk further damage to the material.
